If you are trying to add images directly into Google Slides, upload them to Google Drive and then insert them into your presentation. This might help you fix the Error rendering shape message. Here’s how to do that:
First, open drive.google.com in a web browser and make sure you are logged into your Google account.
Click on the New > File upload/ Folder upload option to import source images.
Next, open Google Slides, go to the Insert menu, and choose the Image > Drive option.
From the Google Drive pane on the right side, go to the My Drive tab and select the images you want to add. Press the Insert button to add images to your presentation.
Check if the Error rendering shape is resolved now.
Google Slides supports JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group), PNG (Portable Network Graphics), and GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) image formats to insert pictures in a presentation. It might be the case that the source image is in an unsupported format which is why you keep getting this error. So, you can try converting the image format and then add the image in Google Slides.
There are multiple free online tools to convert images from one format to another. You can use web services like Convertio, FreeConvert, CloudConvert, ILoveIMG, FreeImageConverter, etc. To use desktop software, there are options like XnConvert, Free AVS Image Converter, and IrfanView.
Once you have converted the image format, insert it in Google Slides and see if the error is fixed.
